Our Events & Services

We provide a selection of history presentations depicting life from centuries ago up to the present day. In addition to these we also offer a range of audience participation shows rememberingĀ times past from the 1940s to theĀ 1970s as well as fun quiz nights and custom events.

1 – Pictorial journey down the Wisbech Canal
Duration – Approx 70 mins. Photographs and illustrations showing scenes along the ancient route of this old canal. Full informative explanations of landmarks and historical information. Many aerial pictures showing the canal and the old Wisbech to Upwell Tramway.

2 – Middle level waterways from the air
Duration – Approx 60 mins. Film showing the middle level waterways from the air with illustrations, still photography and historical data. From the Ouse at Kings Lynn to Denver, along the Welney Wetland Washes to Earith. We then fly over to Peterborough and follow the Nene through to Guyhirne, Wisbech and on to the outfall at Sutton Bridge. This is a compacted story of the 17th century drainage of the old Bedford Level.

3 – A look at the history of Rock and Roll. A tribute to the original legends
Duration – Approx 60 mins +. A tribute to the pioneers of modern Rock n Roll featuring, Chuck Berry, Eddy Cochran, Little Richard, Buddy Holly, Elvis, Big Bopper, Richie Valens. An hour of solid rock and roll music from the best. Showing old photographs telling the tragic stories connected to these greats of yesteryear. A nostalgic trip back to the late 1950s.

4 – The 1925 Steam Locomotive Centenary Film
Duration – Approx 45 mins. A silent black and white film showing most of the steam locomotives that had been built up to 1925. Included is the extremely rare moving pictures of the Wisbech to Upwell tram. This exhibition was watched by the Duke and Duchess of York in 1925.

5 – A historical pictorial account of Outwell
Duration – Approx 60 mins. A PowerPoint presentation showing old photographs of the village and village people. The presentation is accompanied by commentary giving historical information on the village, Churches and Beaupre Hall etc.

6 – A historical pictorial account of Upwell
Duration – Approx 60 mins. A PowerPoint presentation showing old photographs of the village and village people. The presentation is accompanied by commentary giving historical information on the village.

7 – Historical photographs of Fenland villages
Duration – Approx 60 mins. A PowerPoint presentation showing old photographs of many fenland villages and the surrounding area. Including: Emneth, Nordelph, Three Holes, Welney and St. Johns Fen End etc.

8 – An account of Fenland waterways
Duration – Approx 45 mins. A PowerPoint presentation showing old maps and pictures of Fenland.

9 – A boat trip down the Ouse
Duration – Approx 45 mins. A modern film from Ely to Denver.

10 – The experiences of an old boy from down the Pingle
Duration – approx 60 mins. A talk by William Smith, author of Outwell in a Nutshell. Producer of local history DVDs and local history presenter. From a wooden shed on the Downham Road to retirement. Includes: Poaching for survival, growing up after the war, army days, gaining a education.

11 – The President on the Well Creek
Duration – 60 mins. The last steam powered canal boat visited the Well Creek August 2008. It is owned and run by the Black Country Museum in Dudley. This is a DVD film illustrating the history of the President, the Well Creek and surrounding areas.

12 – Specials
A special quiz of your choice or a general knowledge quiz can be produced for a fun evening. Illustrations of the subjects will be shown on the big screen all accompanied by popular music. Please give 2 months notice for a special quiz to be produced.

14a – An hilarious selection of internet clips also showing some breathtakingly beautiful photographs from outer space. Duration 45 minutes.
14b – This generic quiz on 1950s film stars is a team quiz packed full of fun accompanied by popular music. Duration 45 minutes. This is ideal for an evening of entertainment with a tea break at half time.

15 – Remembering the 1940s and 1950s
Duration – 60 mins. Taking in all the sights and sounds of the time. The presentation is designed to have audience participation with words on the screen. A good old fashioned sing song together with a touch of history.

16 – Remembering the 1950s and early 1960s
Duration – 60 mins. Taking in all the sights and sounds of the time. The presentation is designed to have audience participation with words on the screen. A good old fashioned sing song together with a touch of history.
